River of Dreama

Matthew Taylor | Au Sable River, Michigan

Growing up in Michigan my parents were fortunate enough to take us on many summer trips. And one of our annual summer trips was to canoe a portion of the Au Sable River. We’ve done different lengths and different portions of the river, but it always became something I looked forward to and have since taken for granted since I’ve gotten older and moved out of state. But driving up to our cottage in Northern Michigan, crossing the river in Mio always served as a point knowing we were almost there. And every crossing I’d try and look out the window and take in the scenery of the river. And every crossing I have longed to return on a trip down the river once again, now with my own family.
