Wild and Scenic Rivers: An American Legacy, published in 2017 by Oregon State University Press, presents an illuminating portrait of the world’s premier system for the protection of natural rivers. This book by award-winning author and photographer Tim Palmer reveals the history and essential policies of the National Wild and Scenic Rivers Act and showcases 160 spectacular color photos of designated rivers from all parts of the country.

At this FREE event, Tim will show some of these photos and tell stories about this creative conservation initiative during a presentation at Camp Myrtlewood. Sponsored by the Wild Rivers Land Trust.

Wild and Scenic River Celebration

New Belgium Brewing Company, Fort Collins, CO

Join American Rivers, American Whitewater, Coalition for the Poudre River and New Belgium Brewing to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Wild & Scenic Rivers Act. The evening will include a screening of the short film PROTECTED: A Wild & Scenic River Portrait along with prize giveaways and opportunities take action on behalf of rivers near and far.

Beer specials include $3 Fat Tire Amber Ale and Fat Tire Belgian White. 100% of tips collected will be donated to nonprofit partners, and New Belgium will match them dollar for dollar.

Colorado has approximately 107,403 miles of river. Just upstream of Fort Collins on the Cache la Poudre River, are the only Wild & Scenic river miles in the state. A portion of proceeds from the evening will be donated to our outstanding nonprofit partners, supporting their work to protect and restore our nation’s rivers.

Let’s raise a glass and our awareness for the lifeblood of our community and our brewery – RIVERS!

Gauley Fest

Summersville, WV

All proceeds from the festival support American Whitewater’s river conservation and access works throughout the nation. Started in 1983 to celebrate the derailment of a hydro-electric project that would have disrupted the flows on the Gauley River, Gauley Fest has grown to become the largest paddling festival in the world.

The festival is a showcase for American Whitewater and the top whitewater vendors in the boating community. The festival will feature live entertainment, a whitewater marketplace, raffle, and a silent auction where you can pick up some awesome outdoor gear. Come out and join us for a weekend of great paddling, exciting camaraderie, live entertainment, killer boat raffles, and the infamous silent auction.

Note: Gauley Fest will always be held on the third Saturday of September
