Curles Creek: Navigable Access Denied

GB Little | Henrico, Va.

Curles Creek is a tidal navigable tributary to the James River just east of Richmond, Va. I was able to use the creek as a boy until the adjacent property owner illegally dammed the mouth of the creek to keep the public out. Politics have kept the creek dammed and only accessible through trespass by portage. The State maintains it owns the 300′ channel the dam has encroached on but is content with a “Consent Decree” entered into with the adjacent property owner to postpone litigation until a documented public need arises.

My passion for rivers is to allow the public to use and take pride in areas that are public treasures. Don’t allow wealthy private citizens and governmental agencies to steal these areas for special interest reasons.
