A River That Many People Love

Arthur Johns | Chattooga River Sections Two and Three

My friends have enjoyed the Chattooga River for many years. It forms the Northwest corner of South Carolina and the border of Georgia. It consists of five sections. The upper sections 0 and 1 are reserved for fishing only. Sections 2, 3, and 4 are for both fishing and whitewater canoeing and kayaking. Several outfitters take groups on large rubber rafts on sections 3 and 4. Large tracts of forest surround the river and several landowners have donated their land to the U.S. Forest Service to preserve this “Wild & Scenic River” for generations to come.
