I’m setting my gill net out on the sand bar, to clean it. Once clean, paddle it back out in the trinity river to reset it. Spring to early summer and late summer to the end of fall. Are prime fishing on the reservation. In the mornings you’ll see copious amounts of boats and families, up and down the river, checking their gill nets. The river is a livelihood on the reservation. It’s how we teach our children, not only to fish. But the importance of our natural resources, benevolence towards elders, compassion for wildlife and sustainability for the earth.
