Potomac and Shenandoah River Kayaking

I have been kayaking for about 9 years and I love kayaking on the Potomac & Shenandoah Rivers and their tributaries. Besides the great exercise that kayaking affords, it brings you closer to nature and the amazement of seeing sights from a vantage point that others on land cannot enjoy. Sightings of Bald Eagles, Osprey, Blue Herons, Green Herons, and Cormorants are just some of the birds that fish the rivers and creeks. Turtles sunning themselves on a log are a common sight. Deer, fox, mink, groundhogs, beavers, and many other animals drink at rivers edge and are a special sighting. In the summertime we like to land along the bank for lunch and then go for a swim afterward. It is important to me to keep the rivers clean and unpolluted not just for the communities that draw their drinking water from the rivers but for all the wildlife that use the rivers for their sustenance.
