River Romance

Natalia Bergander | Grand Canyon National Park

Last year, I got hired on to work for a river company as a swamper on motor rigs in the canyon. I was walking into the company warehouse before rig day and the first guide I encountered was my trip leader. I instantly knew I was in trouble, as I could not keep my eyes off of him. We instantly hit it off and stayed up into the night drinking beers and talking about our cats back home. As the trip progressed, so did falling for each other. It was the most seamless and easiest connection I’ve ever made with anyone and it all unfolded for us at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. The accompanying photo was taken of us at Nankoweap by some of our passengers. I think it’s this moment we realized we were inseparable.
