It Started in the Bronx

Martha D.P. | The Hudson Valley

I grew up near the Bronx Park in the ’50’s & early ’60’s, when the Bronx River was relatively unpolluted. It broke my heart to see the later neglect fostered on this river. As an adult, I moved to the Hudson Valley, where I have the privilege of living near lakes & the magnificent Hudson River. I have never ceased to appreciate the beautiful rivers that run through this state & our nation. We must all remember that they are a gift & we are only the caretakers of our rivers, lakes, oceans & the rest of this earth we share. They are a legacy that must be passed on to future generations.
