Long Pine Creek

Lois Schreur | Long Pine, Nebraska

Long Pine Creek is not a big river like the Missouri or the Elkhorn, but it is my favorite creek in the world. I have been in love with it for about 30 years when I first discovered it. It is quiet there and one can hear the water ripple over the rocks. I have taken many videos of just the water running over the rocks. The water is so cold and stopping there in the summer to wade in the water is always reviving for me. It is a place for physical and emotional peace. I hope that nothing ever happens to this river–no fracking, no uranium mining. When I drive to western Nebraska from Omaha, my goal is always to make it to Pine Creek where I can find peace.
